The Australian Government has awarded additional funds of A$240,000 to renovate the children’s ward at the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital in New South Wales.

The funding will complete the second stage of improvements to the 17-bed children’s ward, bringing the total investment for renovation to A$690,000, the government said.

The work includes two additional ensuites and refurbishment and upgrade of the existing ward to create two separate rooms to house six beds. There are also ongoing renovations to the bathroom and storage space.

It is hoped the improvements will also help medical staff implement hygiene control measures and provide separate rooms to young patients who are seriously ill.
