The Australian Government is to open a community health facility in Pottsville, New South Wales, which will be a one-stop-shop for the healthcare in the area.

The proposed facility, named HealthOne, will feature GPs, community health and other health professionals.

It will focus on diabetes, cardiovascular, cancer and respiratory diseases in the elderly, the government said.

HealthOne will aim to prevent and reduce the impact of diseases, improve chronic disease management, and reduce avoidable admissions and demand for hospital care.

It will also work towards improving service access and health outcomes for disadvantaged groups, the government said.

The government has bought the site for the facility and construction is set to be complete in 2011.
