The Australian Government has announced funding of more than A$1m for the formation of the National Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Alliance to boost education and research into the disease.

Under the agreement, $713,000 will develop evidence-based guidelines on how to treat the disease and the remaining $421,000 will support an education programme.

The project will be led by the Victorian-based Jean Hailes Foundation which, since its establishment in 1992, has been promoting the health and wellbeing of older women, the government said.
