The Crawford County Memorial Hospital in the US state of Iowa has moved ahead with plans for a new $31m hospital project.

Plans include the construction of a 78,000ft² hospital and a 16,000² adjacent health clinic.

The facility is expected to open in May or June 2011, reports.

The hospital will feature 25 patient rooms with private baths, a separate emergency room entrance and an expanded speciality clinic area with double the number of exam rooms than the existing facility, the news agency reports.

An enhanced physician’s clinic space for the recruitment of additional providers and better privacy and security features across the facility are also included in the plans.
