The East Texas Medical Center Pittsburg in the US will open this week with a new trauma centre to provide clinical, emergency and inpatient care under one roof.

The new $38m 100,000 square foot facility will hold 16 physician offices, surgical suites and a radiology department that includes an open MRI and CT scanner, reports.

Each of its 25 private patient rooms have a terrace, combining the latest in green technology with the surrounding rural environment.

The hospital, built on 20 acres, is expected to serve 1,500 inpatients in its first year and treat 15,000 emergency patients.
