Kuwait will begin construction on a $10bn (KD303m) hospital project in South Surra to provide medical services to 600,000 residents of the region.

The new 469,370m² Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital will be the biggest medical centre in the country, according to Kuwait News Agency.

The hospital will include 1,168 beds, with recreational areas linked to the hospital’s main building and a parking area with the capacity to accommodate around 4,500 vehicles.

The nine-storey building will also have a 300-seat auditorium for medical events and conferences.
