Stamford Hospital in the US is planning a $225m, three-phase expansion.

The first phase of the project will build a new six-level facility housing an emergency department and increasing the number of examination and treatment rooms from 21 to 40.

The second phase will expand on areas partially constructed during the first phase and the third section of the build will involve an extension to the emergency department.

The project is expected to begin before the end of 2009 but needs city and state approval.
