Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) has received approval from The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration to build the 85-bed West Jacksonville Medical Center in western Duval County.

The three-storey hospital will include a 200,000ft² medical office building, an emergency department, a cardiac cath lab and an obstetrical unit.

In addition, there will be operating rooms, an intensive care unit and a medical/surgical unit.

It will offer extensive diagnostic services with MRI and CT scanning equipment and will employ 800 people to staff the hospital.

The construction will cost between $100m and $130m.
