A new shockwave device aimed at curing erectile dysfunction has proved highly effective in a number of trials.

The device uses high-frequency sound waves to widen narrowed blood vessels in the penis responsible for causing erection problems, according to express.co.uk.

Doctors at the Technion University and Rambam Medical Centre in Haifa found that the treatment, which was originally used to break up kidney stones, could help millions of men suffering from impotence.

The research was presented at a recent meeting of the European Society of Sexual Medicine.
