JJ Hospital in Mumbai has launched plans for a new medical intensive care unit as well as an intensive cardiac care unit, a cath laboratory, a CT scanner and an MRI machine, under a Rs120 crore ($26.4m) plan to increase capacity.

The hospital, which already has two CT scanners, MRI machines and two cath labs, expects that another MRI machine will increase capacity from 15 to 30 patients in a day.

The waiting list for patients will come down from 30 to just seven days and the waiting list for a CT scan will also be reduced from seven days to one day, the hospital said.

The new cath lab will allow sonography of heart arteries, a procedure that is useful in assessing the desired placement of a stent during an angioplasty, according to indianexpress.com.
