The US market for sleep apnea diagnostic and therapeutic devices is growing fast and has remained resilient with revenues expected to increase in the next few years after growth becomes stable, a new report has found.

According to the Frost & Sullivan report, the US revenues in the sleep apnea diagnostic and therapeutic devices market totalled $1.35bn in 2008, with a 16.2% growth rate.

Frost & Sullivan predict that market revenues will increase over the next few years, fuelled by the expansion of the installed base and increased awareness in obstructive sleep apnea, after which growth is likely to moderately stabilise.

Further breakouts within the diagnostic and therapeutic markets, containing revenues, units and resulting growth rates, are forecasted through to 2015, the report said.

The expanding number of sleep apnea product users, the evolving patient mix, increasing obesity trends, greater awareness and appreciation for the benefits of sleep apnea treatment, and a steady growth of sleep service providers are expected to drive the growth in this market.
