The UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has launched a medical device alert for five-second Contour blood glucose meters made by Bayer Diabetes Care.

The affected device will give falsely high readings when testing samples from neonates, which may result in undiagnosed hypoglycemia.

The five-second Contour devices should be correctly identified and not used for neonatal care, according to the MHRA.
