A newly redesigned Centros self-centring, chronic haemodialysis access catheter has been launched by AngioDynamics.
The Centros catheter features a Curved Tip catheter technology, which is designed to provide higher blood flow and lower recirculation.
The Centros catheter is designed for faster procedures with fewer interventions and better overall performance, with a flow rate at the seven week follow-up point of 401ml per minute.
The catheter’s curved tip keeps the ports of the catheter centred, away from the vein walls, when it is placed in the lower portion of the superior vena cava.
The catheter is used to prevent clots from forming or fibrin sheathing in which a fibrous protein in the blood coats the catheter, closing up the openings, thereby compromising its function.
