The Arkansas Hospital Auxiliary Association (AHAA) and MedicAlert Foundation have partnered to provide a MedicAlert membership to Arkansans living with chronic conditions, allergies or special needs.

The MedicAlert membership includes a personalised MedicAlert medical ID, and live 24-hour emergency response and family notification services.

AHAA president Carolyn Hannon said the MedicAlert programme helps ensure that vital medical information will be available to emergency physicians who treat acute illnesses and injuries throughout Arkansas, US.

The personalised MedicAlert medical ID and emergency wallet card provide first responders with identification information and details about any critical medical conditions, including medication, life-threatening allergic reactions and implantable medical devices.

Trained staff will answer all calls to the MedicAlert 24-hour emergency response centre and provide vital information to first responders.

The MedicAlert programme will be initiated at seven hospitals across the state of Arkansas.
