Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, UK, is facing cuts and budget restrictions in order to meet a government savings target of £27m ($39m) due to the economic downturn, a report has said.

Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust were expected to discuss the savings, which will be imposed across the board, on Friday 28 May.

Along with reaching the targets, hospital managers are being asked to improve the way the hospital works without it impacting on patient care, according to BBC News.
