Medtronic has launched its fourth-generation continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system in 49 countries.
The iPro2 Professional CGM detects the high and low glucose fluctuations that can lead to dangerous health complications, which are often missed in traditional A1C tests and glucose meter measurements.
The device features a disposable glucose sensor and a small data recorder to automatically capture glucose information. It can also provide reports that physicians can use to educate patients on the therapy and lifestyle changes they can make to improve their health and quality of life.
Medtronic plans to release its new system in 22 more countries, including the US, and it has submitted an application to the US Food and Drug Administration. The device already holds the CE mark.
