A new instrument to track the incidence and prevalence of peristomal skin lesions has been launched by ConvaTec.
The evidence-based SACS Instrument assesses and classifies peristomal lesions by type and location in relation to an individual’s stoma.
The instrument, initially developed by a group of Italian healthcare professionals, was published in Ostomy Wound Management in 2007, and was later adopted in Italy.
The device was launched at the 2010 Joint Conference of the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society and World Council of Enterostomal Therapists.
