Authorities in Kuwait are planning to build nine towers that will be annexed to hospitals, increasing the number of beds in the city by 2,000.
The $160m project will also increase the total number of operating rooms to 70 and the number of intensive care beds to 90.
The annexes will be attached to the maternity hospital, the Al-Sabah, Al-Razi, Al-Amiri, Ibn Sina, Al-Adan, Al-Jahra and Al-Farwaniya hospitals, and the Hussain Makki Juma Center for specialised surgeries.
The expansion will also increase the number of outpatient clinics, and improve services related to X-rays, laboratories, sterilisation units and medical records.
It will also provide a centre for disasters, and emergency and an isolation ward with a capacity of 90 beds.
