New York Hospital Queens (US) has opened a new seven-floor, 80-bed wing on its main campus, increasing access to high-demand care services.

The $210m expansion, completed in just under three and a half years, covers 190,000ft². It provides a central hub for the hospital’s cardiovascular and orthopaedic services, and includes medical and surgical units with private and semi-private rooms.

The ground floor houses a new outpatient surgery centre with ten operating rooms and 33 recovery beds. A three-storey parking complex has also been built.

The project was primarily funded by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Barr & Barr managed construction of the facility, which was designed by architectural firm Perkins Eastman.

New York Hospital Queens is a part of the New York-Presbyterian Healthcare System and an affiliate of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
