An updated version of OnGuard, Riverain’s computer-aided lung cancer detection device, has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
OnGuard Chest X-ray Computer-Aided Detection helps physicians identify suspicious nodules in the lungs earlier using pattern recognition and machine-learning technology.
This version of the OnGuard device has been found to improve sensitivity by 50% and reduce false positive marks by 73%, according to a trial conducted by manufacturer Riverain.
OnGuard is compatible with the existing digital chest X-ray, so no additional radiation dose, patient procedure, hardware or stand-alone workstation is required to integrate the technology into radiology departments.
