A state of emergency has been declared in hospitals in Gaza due to power cuts caused by a lack of industrial diesel fuel for the region’s main power plant.

The cuts have severely affected maternity departments, children’s hospitals, nurseries and intensive care units.

This is the third time the power plant has been closed in 2010.

Fuel for the power plant is supplied by the Palestinian Government. It reports that shipments have been stopped as it has not received payments from the Gaza’s Hamas Government.
