The Malaysian Islamic Organisations Consultative Council (MAPIM) has proposed to build a $34.6m paediatric hospital in Gaza.

Azmi Abdul Hamid, who heads the MAPIM-led humanitarian mission to Gaza, said the nine-storey hospital would have four floors of paediatric wards, a nursery, playground, recreation centre, library, clinic and pharmacy.

MAPIM will convey the hospital proposal to the authorities in Gaza, according to bernama.com.

Hamid added that if the proposals are accepted, construction could begin by the end of 2010 and would take two years to complete.
