MRSA infections in US hospitals have declined, according to researchers at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Hospital-onset MRSA infections fell by 28% between 2005 and 2008.
In nine metropolitan areas in the US, MRSA cases fell by 16%, a decrease from 32 cases per 100,000 people to 26 cases per 100,000.
The researchers noted that prevention efforts may have resulted in decrease in MRSA infections.
The study has been reported in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
