GE Healthcare has begun a pilot of its Smart Patient Room solution at Bassett Medical Center in New York, US.

The solution, designed to reduce medical errors and improve patient safety, provides real-time monitoring of hospital safety protocols such as hygiene compliance, patient falls, and periodic clinical rounding.

The system also monitors of patient risk factors, which can help hospitals to improve safety.

Bassett Medical Center President and CEO William Streck said that patient safety is a concern for hospitals across the US, as more patients enter the health system.
