Serco Group has added King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to its pathology joint venture with Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
Under the ten-year contract, estimated to be worth £300m, Serco will be the principal pathology service provider to the trust from October 2010.
The joint venture will conduct more than 10 million tests every year for people within NHS and from wider health sector.
Serco Group chief executive Christopher Hyman said the addition of King’s to the company’s pathology partnership created the UK’s leading single pathology provider.
“It underlines our desire to work in partnership with the NHS to transform services for the benefit of patients and clinicians alike,” Hyman added.
