Al Rahba Hospital in the UAE has opened a new digital mammography unit for breast cancer detection as a part of its Women’s Health Programme.

The unit is equipped with all the necessary mechanical and software features, allowing for faster image acquisition, advanced computer analysis detection and secondary post-processing.

It also has a Stenograph Essential System, which uses low energy X-ray technology to improve image contrast and reduce the patients’ exposure to radiation.

Al Rahba Hospital chief medical officer Dr Nellie Boma said that early detection tests for breast cancer save many thousands of lives each year, and many more could be saved if more women and their healthcare providers took advantage of these tests.
