The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in the US has formed a partnership with the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein (HIAE) in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to develop a multidisciplinary oncology programme.
Under the ten year agreement, MD Anderson will aid in converting HIAE’s oncology department into the one of the best cancer care centres in South America.
MD Anderson business affairs senior vice president Dan Fontaine said the collaboration would help in the worldwide fight against cancer.
"Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein is one of the most respected hospitals in Latin America, the region’s leading acute care provider and a collaborator capable of, and committed to, implementing our multidisciplinary, research-driven patient care model," Fontaine said.
The programme will focus on radiation oncology, medical oncology, surgical oncology, diagnostic imaging, nursing, pathology and pharmacy.
