Memorial Hospital, a member of University of Colorado Health in Colorado, US, has chosen Surgical Information Systems’ (SIS) business intelligence solution, SIS Analytics, to view, explore and measure a data set from other systems along with perioperative data.

The hospital will use the technology to measure and manage clinical, quality and financial performance throughout its perioperative department across three facilities.

"This intelligence will help us drive improved safety, quality, efficiency and patient satisfaction throughout our hospitals."

Memorial Hospital perioperative services director Susan Baldwin said SIS Analytics gives immediate access to the rich data in the hospital’s core IS system and beyond.

"This intelligence will help us drive improved safety, quality, efficiency and patient satisfaction throughout our hospitals," Baldwin added.

An existing Picis OR analytics and reporting solution was replaced and SIS Analytics was paired with Memorial’s core Cerner HIS system to enable staff to get a clear idea of the performance of the perioperative department and to access information that will assist in the development of plans to enhance processes and efficiency.

Memorial will implement Epic, which will allow the analytics platform to combine data from Epic and systems across the enterprise and make it available to SIS Analytics for analysis.

Surgical Information Systems CEO Ed Daihl said access to comprehensive, actionable information is vital for achieving the efficiency, quality and safety improvements that hospitals need to stay competitive.

"Memorial’s results demonstrate the power of sophisticated analytics combined with perioperative know-how that you can’t get anywhere else," Daihl added.
