Sound Physicians, a Washington-based hospitalist firm focused on inpatient healthcare delivery, has signed an agreement to provide hospitalist management services to Covenant Medical Center, an 868-bed hospital located in Lubbock, Texas, US.
Sound Physicians will begin providing comprehensive hospitalist services at Covenant Medical Center in February 2014 after it assumes the employment and management of the existing hospital-employed hospitalist programme.
The 21-member hospitalist team will encompass 13 physicians, six mid-level providers and two nurses.
Covenant Medical Center is part of Covenant Health System, the largest health system in the region.
Covenant Health System CEO Troy Thibodeaux said that the hospital chose Sound Physicians because of their proven track record of putting the right tools and resources in place to improve the quality of inpatient care.
"We are confident their expertise and leadership will enhance our current programme and deliver the best clinical and financial outcomes for patients and community," Thibodeaux added.
Sound Physicians’ SoundConnect workflow and informatics platform will be introduced to drive improvements in inpatient care outcomes and financial performance.
Additionally, Sound Physicians will also use its expertise in developing high-performing hospital practices, such as revenue cycle management and a track record of physician recruiting success.
Sound Physicians CEO Dr Robert Bessler said the company is excited to partner with Covenant Medical Center and support its commitment to clinical excellence.
"We look forward to providing the right infrastructure, evidence-based processes and leadership to deliver the highest quality of care," Bessler added.
By partnering with Sound Physicians, Covenant Medical Center hopes to improve the delivery of inpatient care, enhance patient outcomes and strengthen its financial performance.
Covenant Health is the largest health care institution in the region with 1,077 licensed beds, more than 5,000 employees and a medical staff of more than 600 physicians at its cornerstone facilities.
