The Care Quality Commission (CQC) in the UK has urged Bramcote Hills Care Home in Nottingham to make necessary improvements to meet the essential standards of quality and safety.
CQC inspectors, who visited the care home on 22 February 2012, found that the provider is failing to meet ten of the 11 essential standards.
CQC deputy director of operations (central region) Andrea Gordon said that the failings at Bramcote Hills Care Home are a real concern.
"We will continue to monitor this service. If we had immediate concerns about people’s safety, we would take action straight away on behalf of residents," Gordon added.
The areas of concern identified by the inspectors are the care and welfare of service users, the safeguarding of service users from abuse, cleanliness and infection control, management of medicines, safety and suitability of medicines, staffing, supporting staff, monitoring the quality of service provision, and records.
The inspectors found that half of the workforce at the care home is not properly trained in keeping residents safe. CQC also noticed significant gaps in medication records, making it difficult to ascertain whether medication had been administered or not.
Any regulatory decision that CQC takes is open to challenge by a registered person through a variety of internal and external appeal processes.
