MedSpring Urgent Care in Houston, US, has opened a new facility, marking its fifth opening in the Houston area since March 2011.

The new Katy Center, located at 6501 South Fry Road, joins four other MedSpring facilities in River Oaks, Sugar Land, Kingwood and the Memorial area.

MedSpring chief medical officer Jon Belsher said the fifth centre will provide the city with a convenient option for comfortable and cost-effective health care.

"In addition to quality medical care, patients can expect a relaxing atmosphere with unique amenities including complimentary snacks and beverages, in-room televisions and activities for children," Belsher added.

On-site digital X-ray and lab facilities assist physicians to treat a range of illnesses and injuries, from cuts, sprains and broken bones to coughs, allergies and infections.

MedSpring, which at present operates ten urgent care centres in Texas, with five centres in Houston and five centres in Austin, plans to open a sixth centre in Austin and three Chicago-area locations by the end of the year.
