University General Health System (UGHS), a diversified, integrated multi-speciality healthcare provider in Houston, US, has purchased the Robert Horry Center for Sports and Physical Rehabilitation in south-west Houston.

The acquisition will allow the health system, which at present operates one hospital, two ambulatory surgical centres, two diagnostic imaging centres, three physical therapy clinics, a sleep clinic, and a hyperbaric wound care centre, to expand the number of hospital outpatient departments that the firm owns and operates.

University General Health System chairman and chief executive officer Hassan Chahadeh said the quality of care and reputation of the Robert Horry Center reflect the standards that guide the continued expansion of UGHS’s regional health network within the Houston metropolitan area.

"This expansion is expected to increase University General’s annual revenue by over $1m during 2013, and we are delighted to be associated with Mr. Horry and his team of professionals," Chahadeh added.

The Robert Horry Center, which was acquired for an undisclosed amount by UGHS, focuses on orthopaedic rehabilitation, sports medicine services, occupational hand therapy and athletic training.

The Robert Horry Center for Sports and Physical Rehabilitation president and founder Robert Horry said, "We are eager to join University General’s regional healthcare delivery system, as its philosophy of patient care and concierge service is highly compatible with our existing centre."
