LifeBridge Health in Baltimore County, Maryland, US, will open the new Herman & Walter Samuelson Children’s Hospital next month.
The organisation is spending $29.5m, including $5m from the state, to replace the affiliated children’s medical facility after 53 years in the same building, reports the Baltimore Sun.
The new building will offer a range of paediatric speciality services, including cancer and bowel disease treatments, cardiology and endocrinology.
It will have 26 private inpatient rooms, with each room having a video game console, as well as sleep and work areas for parents.
Herman & Walter Samuelson Children’s Hospital will also have updated equipment, such as centralised nursing stations and a computerised system that keeps track of medications by barcode.
Additional features include a physical therapy treatment room, family hospitality area, an onsite ‘build-a-bear’ store, environmental control spaces and clinical support spaces.
