Slidell Memorial Hospital in Louisiana, US, is set to construct a two-storied building which will add a refined emergency department and a new cardiology unit.
The new 64,000ft² facility will be built on the hospital’s main campus and is set to be complete by June 2013.
Slidell Memorial CEO Bill Davis was quoted by The Times-Picayune as saying that the facility will increase ER patient capacity and shorten wait times.
"It’s going to provide for a much more private, personal service experience," Davis added.
The new emergency department will have 31 beds, up from the existing 14, and will include 17 private exam or treatment rooms, two secure treatment rooms and one isolation treatment room.
The cardiology unit will accommodate 38 private inpatient rooms, 24 of which will be telemetry rooms; the remaining 14 will serve as high-acuity cardiac rooms.
Sizeler Thompson Brown Architects of New Orleans the Citadel Builders will work on the development of the project.
