Rochester General Health System and its 528-bed Rochester General Hospital, a tertiary care facility in Rochester, New York, have implemented the Masimo Patient SafetyNet system, a remote monitoring and clinician notification system that is designed to reduce rapid response activations, transfers to intensive care units, and deaths related to opioid-induced respiratory depression.

The remote monitoring and clinician notification system is designed to track and noninvasively measure a patient’s underlying physiological conditions continuously and non-invasively in real-time.

The system instantly sends accurate, actionable patient alarms wirelessly to qualified caregivers for prompt clinical intervention.

Patient SafetyNet combines the performance of Masimo SET pulse oximetry, which enables reliable monitoring in the general ward, with ventilation monitoring and wireless clinician notification.

Clinicians can reduce retinopathy of prematurity in neonates, screen newborns for critical congenital heart disease, reduce ventilator weaning time and arterial blood gas measurements in the ICU through Masimo SET pulse oximetry technology.

It helps reduce rapid response activations and intensive care unit transfers on the general floor.

"We are honoured to partner with a healthcare facility that is committed to help protect patients, improve outcomes, and reduce costs."

Masimo SET is designed to enhance patient care and improve patient outcomes especially during patient motion and low perfusion.

The installation of Patient SafetyNet at Rochester General Hospital is part of the healthcare organisation’s standardisation to Masimo SET Measure-Through Motion and Low Perfusion pulse oximetry.

Masimo founder and CEO Joe Kiani said that Rochester General Health System has made patient safety a top priority.

"We are honoured to partner with a healthcare facility that is committed to help protect patients, improve outcomes, and reduce costs," Kiani added.

Patient SafetyNet, which was installed at the hospital following an extensive evaluation process, provides a greater degree of speed and accuracy with the help of its advanced technologies.

Rochester General Health System is comprised of eight clinically integrated affiliates delivering comprehensive healthcare services with superior quality, safety and patient satisfaction.
