Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust in the UK has deployed FileTek’s StorHouse active archive system for data storage of critical healthcare picture archive and communications system (PACS) information.
The StorHouse active archive system will secure, protect, and provide access to expanding clinical information assets, including PACS data.
Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust has deployed StorHouse across three hospitals – Alexandra, Kidderminster and Worcestershire Royal – with primary and backup data stored at Worcestershire and Kidderminster.
Worcestershire Health IT Services centralised IT services manager Peter Lowe said having secure storage and assured access to PACS-related images is a major part of the trust’s commitment to providing outstanding care to its patients.
"To ensure this commitment, we were looking for a cost-effective way to store our growing volume of PACS data while safeguarding its security, availability, and accessibility for the long-term," Lowe added.
"Going live with our new secure archive managed service and StorHouse active archive platform enables us to meet these important enterprise objectives."
StorHouse is a hardware-independent, multi-functional software platform that automatically stores, validates, retrieves, backs up, archives, and manages terabytes to zettabytes of file-based and relational information on a single, easy-to-access system.
The software platform blends disk and tape as part of a scaled-out NAS environment while providing an active archive strategy for big data.
StorHouse eliminates the need for formal restore procedures, instead giving users self-service access to StorHouse-managed data without IT intervention, according to FileTek.
