Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, Ontario, has selected Carestream’s Vue PACS and zero-footprint Vue Motion mobile image viewer for streamlining its workflow by equipping its radiologists and clinicians with fully featured on-site and remote access of images and reports.

Carestream’s Vue PACS is a web-enabled picture archiving communication system that provides flexible, cost-effective image review, management, distribution and archiving.

Vue PACS delivers integrated advanced visualisation, 3D post processing, lesion management, dictation, critical results notification and a mammography module that eliminates the need for dedicated workstations, while the Vue Motion viewer provides easy access to imaging data and patient information by clinicians anytime, anywhere.

Vue Motion viewer allows clinicians and referring physicians to review quickly and easily both imaging studies and reports as they are conducting patient rounds at the hospital or from their offices or homes.

"Equipping radiologists to read and finalise their report from any location will greatly streamline our workflow and allow radiologists to read after-hours exams from home instead of requiring them to be on-site."

Joseph Brant Hospital director of clinical diagnostics Brian Chan praised Vue PACS’ ability to make advanced reading tools available to radiologists from workstations at any location.

"Equipping radiologists to read and finalise their report from any location will greatly streamline our workflow and allow radiologists to read after-hours exams from home instead of requiring them to be on-site," Chan added.

Commenting on the Vue Motion viewer, he said: "The viewer is easy to use, the image quality is excellent and it supports viewing on workstations or mobile devices such as an iPad."

The hospital has also purchased Carestream’s OrthoView digital pre-operative planning and surgical templating tools and peerVue business intelligence and decision support systems.

Joseph Brant Hospital has a staff of 175 physicians and 1,400 full and part-time health care personnel. It operates 245 inpatient beds, and it registered 13,258 admissions and 47,326 emergency department visits in 2012-13.
