Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, an NHS trust that operates in the north-east sector of Manchester, UK, has acquired Flexera Software’s App Portal and AdminStudio as the centerpiece of its consumerisation of IT and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) initiatives.
The trust selected App Portal and AdminStudio Suite to address the immediate need of enabling its consumerisation of IT and BYOD strategies.
The App Portal is also capable of integrating seamlessly with the company’s software licence optimisation solution, FlexNet Manager Suite, which provides visibility into and control of IT assets, reduces ongoing software costs, and helps ensure continuous licence compliance.
By implementing App Portal as the front-end, self-service enterprise app store, Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust hopes to reduce application request wait times and increase user satisfaction.
The portal will be supported by AdminStudio to help streamline Windows XP-to-Windows 7, and .MSI-to-Microsoft App-V conversions, application testing, remediation, packaging and hand off to the app store to populate the application catalog.
Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust IM&T associate director Christine Walters said that the trust wants to empower its clinical professionals to request, obtain and consume business applications and services quickly and reliably.
"We needed to prepare, package and make applications available in our app store quickly using a strategic, integrated solution," Walters added.
Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust IM&T project manager and enterprise architect Jason Birchall said that the trust looks at the project from a holistic perspective – data centre to end-user device.
"Licence management is important. It’s good to know Flexera Software has the whole ecosystem to help us get the most from our software assets. It’s something to look at when we’re farther along," Birchall added.
Walters added that Flexera’s App Portal solution will help the IM&T department deliver its services in a faster, more efficient and safer manner.
Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust provides a range of elective emergency, district general services, and some specialist services. It operates from four sites: Fairfield General Hospital, Bury; North Manchester General Hospital; The Royal Oldham Hospital; and Rochdale Infirmary.
