Post Acute Medical based in Pennsylvania, US, has acquired a new long-term acute care hospital (LTACH), Promise Hospital of San Antonio.

Promise Hospital of San Antonio, a 26-bed LTACH located within the Southwest General Hospital, will be renamed Warm Springs Specialty Hospital of San Antonio.

Post Acute Medical president and chief executive officer Anthony Misitano said the ability to offer LTACH, rehab, SNF, outpatient and a comprehensive wound care centre all in San Antonio provides patients with a smooth transition of care for all post-acute services.

"We look forward to the opportunity to share best practices with the new team and to integrate them into our efforts to consistently improve outcomes for patients in need of the intensive level of care provided in an LTACH environment," Misitano added.

The acquisition is expected to allow Post Acute Medical to deliver a full spectrum of post-acute services.

At present, the company operates the following rehab and LTACH beds in Texas: 34 rehabilitation beds in Thousand Oaks, 40 rehabilitation beds in Westover Hills, 40 LTACH beds in New Braunfels, 34 LTACH beds in Luling and 26 LTACH beds in Victoria.

Karen Pitcher, CEO of the Promise LTACH hospital, who will remain as CEO of Warm Springs Specialty Hospital of San Antonio, said, "We will be able to add new services and integrate into Warm Springs systems which will support us as our current employees continue to provide outstanding care."
