Kent Hospital, a 359-bed acute care hospital located in Warwick, Rhode Island, has announced it will join health service company Cigna’s network of hospitals in Rhode Island.
The multi-year contract goes into effect from 1 December 2013.
According to the terms of their health care benefits plan, Cigna customers who receive health care services from Kent Hospital or its doctors will now be covered at the in-network benefit level.
Cigna president and general manager for New England Don Curry said, "We welcome Kent Hospital to the Cigna network and are pleased that our Rhode Island customers will now have more options available when they need access to quality health care."
Cigna customers with queries about their plan can call Cigna customer service at the number on their Cigna ID card.
Kent Hospital president and CEO and Care New England COO Sandra L Coletta said that the hospital’s partnership with Cigna will give more people access to an extensive array of health care services.
"Helping more people to be healthy and live healthy lives is always an excellent outcome," Coletta added.
As the second-largest hospital in Rhode Island, Kent serves approximately 300,000 residents of central Rhode Island and its recently redesigned emergency department (ED) sees close to 70,000 patients each year.
Kent Hospital is a teaching affiliate of The University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Kent offers programmes in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and an Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Fellowship.
Kent Hospital is also Rhode Island’s largest hyperbaric medicine facility and the only hospital offering 24hr emergency hyperbaric oxygen therapy in the region.
