Skanska, a Swedish construction company, signed a contract worth SEK420m ($51.5m) with Västfastigheter for the renovation and expansion of Alingsås Hospital in Sweden.
Upon renovation, Alingsås Hospital will have an emergency care as well as community care facilities for the neighboring localities and Västra Götaland region.
Under the deal, Skanska will be constructing a new structure on 8,000m² and will renovate the existing building that is spread across 13,000m².
The new construction includes health care facilities, and a new location for administration and education.
It will also include a new entrance, waiting area, café and a reception.
The renovation project includes makeover of facilities such as intensive care, orthopedics, laboratories, pharmacy, restaurant and kitchen.
The project, construction of which has already started, is slated for completion in 2020.
Skanska is of the major construction and project development companies in Sweden and is focused on civil engineering, residential and commercial project developments.
The Swedish construction company has a work force of approximately 10,000 employees.
