Mediclinic International, a South Africa-based international private hospital group, has selected Orchestra Networks’ EBX5 software for its multidomain master data management (MDM) programme to facilitate streamlined, consolidated procurement information across its international operations in South Africa, Namibia, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates.
Currently, each of these businesses is responsible for its own procurement.
In the initial multidomain MDM project, Mediclinic will utilise EBX5 to facilitate indirect purchasing by matching and consolidating detailed procurement information for each organisation’s products.
Mediclinic is expected to achieve economies of scale and reduce its costs by sourcing supplies from global vendors.
EBX5 is reportedly the only MDM software solution which is designed to provide true multidomain capabilities with a 100% browser-based user interface.
Mediclinic International group procurement manager James Herbert said thhat the hospital group spends more than it should on procuring pharmaceuticals, because each business is responsible for ordering its own, and it is planning to use EBX5 to reduce these costs.
"Since it is crucial that we classify our pharmaceuticals correctly, EBX5 also allows us to include non-technical personnel, such as pharmacists, in our distributed data governance workflows.
"EBX5 was the only MDM solution that met our functional and technical requirements including the eCl@ss product classification, integration with existing SAP applications, and support for business users," Herbert added.
"We foresee building upon these capabilities as we expand the scope of our enterprise-wide multidomain MDM usage. We recognise that accurate and consistent information is fundamental to living up to our vision of providing cost-effective, evidence-based care to our patients – EBX5 makes that possible."
EBX5’s features include: data modelling, hierarchy management, collaborative workflow, embedded data quality, data authouring, version control, security and permissions, and integration and distribution.
Mediclinic, though initially focusing on product data, plans to create a comprehensive data management programme that will span the entire organisation at a later stage.
Orchestra Networks president and CEO Christophe Barriolade said the company is proud that Mediclinic has chosen to build the foundation of its multidomain MDM programme on EBX5.
"With over twenty three thousand employees on three continents, Mediclinic has stringent master data requirements," Barriolade added.
"Their selection proves, again, that EBX5 can satisfy the complex master data governance needs of global organisations."
Mediclinic operates a network of 68 private hospitals and eight clinics, with more than 9,300 beds in four countries.
