Western Connecticut Health Network, US has announced plans to build the new Arnhold Emergency Department at New Milford Hospital.
The new department, which will expand emergency medical services in the region, will be built into the neighbouring hillside in a park-like setting. Features include an eco-friendly, patient-centred design, roof-top garden and all-private rooms.
Western Connecticut Health Network president and CEO Dr John M Murphy said the plans demonstrate the company’s commitment to provide the highest-quality care for patients.
"We look forward to enhancing the hospital’s ability to serve the community in New Milford and the surrounding region by providing a state of the art facility for the outstanding staff that we have in place," Dr Murphy said.
The construction, which is pending approval, will double the size of the existing emergency department and enhance important privacy and infection control measures, according to the hospital.
The new project is expected to provide improved emergency department facilities, advanced equipment and technology and increased personalised care and privacy for patients.
New Milford Hospital operations executive director and senior vice president Deborah Weymouth said; "We are so grateful to early contributors, like the Arnhold Family, for paving the way for others to invest in high-touch, future-focused emergency medical care for our community."
