Humility of Mary Health Partners in the US state of Ohio will invest more than $200m over the next five years to renovate its three hospitals.
The hospital system will break ground on a 165,000ft², seven storey in-patient bed tower at St. Elizabeth’s Boardman campus later in 2012.
The $100m project will be completed in two phases and the first phase is likely to be finished in early 2014.
The hospital system will also move its nursery, obstetrician and neonatal intensive care services to Boardman from its 100-year-old St. Elizabeth campus in Youngstown.
St. Elizabeth’s Boardman president Genie Aubel was quoted by wfmj.com as saying, "That’s going to free up an entire floor on our St. E’s main campus on Belmont Avenue as we begin our retrofit of that campus to create an all private room facility."
Meanwhile, executives said they’ll spend another $11m at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren, on improvements such as a new digital radiology room and the addition of private patient rooms.
