Renown Regional Medical Center in Nevada, US, has deployed Intuitive Surgical’s da Vinci Si system to upgrade its robotic surgery technology.
The newly refined surgical system is the latest addition to the da Vinci product line, which is designed to offer faster recovery times, smaller incisions, lower risks of infection and reduce pain.
It facilitates dual console capability to support training and collaboration during the surgery, enhanced 3D HD vision, upgraded surgeon console, expanded fingertip controls, operating room integration and simulation.
Intuitive Surgical said the system performs more than one million safety checks a second and its mechanism ensures efficient and safe exchange of instruments during surgery.
Peter Lim, Renown Institute for Robotic Surgery medical director, said: "This new technology will also allow us to expand our other surgical specialties such as treating colon and lung cancer."
