NYU Langone Medical Center in New York, US, has opened the Center for Musculoskeletal Care (CMC) in Manhattan.

The 110,000ft² facility provides services such as adult reconstructive and joint replacement surgery, arthritis and autoimmunity disease care, spine disorder treatment, sports medicine, physiatry, physical and occupational therapies, as well as comprehensive pain management.

NYU dean and CEO Robert Grossman said that CMC will increase the collaboration between clinicians and researchers to bring personalised treatment and care for the bones, joints and muscles.

"This new facility represents a fundamentally different way of treating musculoskeletal conditions, which will only enhance the care provided by our expert faculty and staff," Grossman added.

All bone and joint care services will be moved from NYU Langone Medical Center to the new facility by mid-May 2012.

CMC director and department of orthopaedic surgery assistant professor Gail Chorney added: "Patients will not only benefit from a seamless integration of the full spectrum of services within one location, but they will also be able to conveniently access many of our services six days a week, including elective surgery on Saturday."

The NYU Langone Medical Center is composed of four hospitals, including Tisch Hospital, the Hospital for Joint Diseases, Hassenfeld Pediatric Center and the Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine.
