
The global healthcare industry noticed a 4.4% rise in IT hiring activity in April 2021 over the previous month, led by Accenture’s 34.84% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The healthcare industry’s overall hiring activity an increased 2.29% when compared with March 2021.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 9.86% share of the global healthcare industry’s hiring activity in April 2021, up 0.86% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of April 2021 were 12.97% higher compared with the previous month.
The increase was a result of 25.31% lower job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 75.19% emerged as the top IT occupation in the healthcare hiring activity in April 2021, a 1.3% an increase over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 8.02% in April 2021, up 0.48% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 7.56% share in April 2021, an increase of 7.6% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with a 5.22% share in April 2021 and drop of 8.79% over March 2021.
Top five healthcare companies by recruitment activity in April 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 0.34% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global healthcare industry during April 2021 over March 2021.
Accenture posted 9,132 IT jobs in April 2021 and registered a drop of 2.96% over the previous month, followed by International Business Machines with 3,105 jobs and an 18.97% rise. Oracle with 1,904 IT jobs and Cisco Systems with 984 jobs, recorded a 7.66% decline and an 8.97% growth, respectively, while DXC Technology recorded a 17.37% drop with 923 job postings during April 2021.
Regional composition of IT hiring in healthcare industry
Asia-Pacific emerged as the leading region in the global healthcare IT hiring activity in April 2021 with a 46.35% share, which marked a 9.78% drop over the previous month.
North America stood next with 34.47%, registering a 6.91% month-on-month an increase.Europe was the third leading region with a 17.17% share and a 24.83% rise over March 2021.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 1.16% and a month-on-month growth of 13.01%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.85%, registering a 9.31% drop over the previous month.
