Aetna senior vice-president and chief digital and technology officer Nathan Frank said: “Aetna Care Paths are one example of CVS Health’s $20bn multi-year digital investment in making health care simpler to navigate, a key aspect of Aetna’s strategy of leveraging technology to deliver a better experience for our members and providers.

“Leading-edge digital tools, including AI, support members at every stage of their health journey.”

The Aetna Health app also features several recent enhancements. These include the ability to schedule vaccines at local CVS Pharmacies and MinuteClinics, a visual ‘doughnut’ chart for claims breakdowns.

An AI-powered chat will also be available for quick assistance, and Smart Compare can be used for personalised provider recommendations.

In addition, the app also introduces a dark mode interface to improve accessibility and viewing comfort.
