The computerised patients can breathe, blink, speak, and even simulate childbirth, providing an immersive training experience.

This environment enables doctors, respiratory therapists, nurses as well as other clinical staff to practice procedures, decision-making along with teamwork without risking real patients.

Cadillac Hospital community president Peter Marinoff said: “We’re excited to bring the Simulation Lab to Cadillac Hospital—it’s a big step forward for our team and the care we provide.

“Having this kind of hands-on training right here means our staff can keep building their skills and stay ready for whatever comes through our doors.”

The laboratory at Cadillac Hospital has two patient simulation rooms that are fully equipped.

It features a high-fidelity adult manikin and a infant manikin, as well as a low-fidelity adult manikin for training on skills.

Additionally, the lab is furnished with a practice crash cart and task trainers, such as IV start arms. Comprehensive simulation design and support services are offered by the MHC Simulation Team.

Simulation Education senior coordinator Lauren Holland said: “The mission of the Munson Healthcare Simulation Program is to advance the delivery of high-quality, safe patient care throughout our system.

“By integrating simulation technologies and best practices into multidisciplinary training, we create a collaborative, interactive, and transformative learning environment.”

The expansion allows local staff to access simulation equipment on a daily basis, which previously had to be transported in. Staff have been trained to independently operate the high-fidelity manikins, ensuring continuous simulation opportunities.

The simulation team also conducts real-time practice scenarios in patient care areas, including emergency response exercises and Code Blue drills.
