Canada’s Ontario Government has announced an additional C$12.5m ($9.1m) for supporting the planning and construction of a new Brant Community Healthcare System hospital.
This investment aims to benefit more patients and families in Brant County, Six Nations of the Grand River, and neighbouring communities, offering them care close to home.
Ontario deputy premier and health minister Sylvia Jones said: “By investing to build a brand-new Brant Community Healthcare System hospital, we are making it faster and easier for more people and their families to access world-class care in their community, for generations to come.”
The new investment, which follows a previous allocation of C$2.5m by the Ontario government, is set to enable Brant Community Healthcare System to progress with plans for a new hospital in Brantford-Brant.
The hospital is designed to broaden capacity, enhance services, and decrease wait times, ensuring it meets the growing region’s requirements for the foreseeable future.
It is expected to offer increased patient capacity, more access to core programmes, and emergency services once opened.
